Schwalbe masters the next level

“Fly Schwalbe, Fly” cheered the big, German weekly newspaper “DIE ZEIT” to the Schwalbe’s comeback in the summer of 2017. As across the country, the electric revival of the cult German scooter caused a sensation. And not just because of its unique design, but also due to the outstanding engineering behind it. The electric Schwalbe’s performance and operating range set a new industry standard.

Connectivity is everything

Networking that is advancing at breathtaking speed is revolutionising all areas of our lives. This is especially the case for transport. Experts expect that even in the near future 80% fewer cars will be congesting the roads in our towns because more and more people are switching from their own vehicles to sharing models. And these are based on intelligent connectivity solutions.

Everybody Have Fun - Elly

While diesel scandals, traffic jams and air pollution continue to increase the desire for clean mobility options, the purchase price of quality, electric products have previously been too high for most people. This is all going to change in 2018: With Elly, the new electric scooter from GOVECS.

Second production line

In Q1/2016 GOVECS established its second production line. The length of 33 meters allows a parallel assembly of up to 5 vehicles. Additionally GOVECS installed 12 workstations for the sub-assembly. The line is equipped with 2 gantries for the transport for heavy components.

Is there a market for pedal-assist three-wheelers?

A new kind of electric three-wheelers has been in the news lately, with new concepts appearing in different countries. The Twike I was the pioneer in this field. Introduced in 1986 by a Swiss team, it was only pedal-powered. The Twike II added an electric motor, and the Twike III became the production-version in 1995. As of today, the firm, with production now based in Germany, claims to have sold over 900 units all over Europe, and a few of them even in the USA.

In May 2015, Joe Wilcox, Sway’s founder, went on the famous TV show “Shark Tank”, where aspiring entrepreneurs pitch their new product or company to a panel of potential investors. One of them, Mark Cuban, the owner of the Dallas Mavericks basketball team, agreed to invest $300,000 in Sway Motorsports in exchange for 30% of the company.

Schwalbe - Chronicle of a cult object

Munich, November 8, 2016. Originally the Schwalbe was a Simson product - a vehicle manufacturer from the German Democratic Republic, the former GDR. It was produced from 1964 to 1986 in Suhl and, until it stopped rolling, over one million Schwalbe mopeds came off the production line. This made the Schwalbe the most successful single-brand European scooter in history. After the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, it captured the hearts of many western Europeans and became a cult object. Now it’s back, with an electric drivetrain by GOVECS.
